Alphonsa College, Pala, established as a junior college in 1964, started discipline in Botany in the year 1967 with a strength of 35 students. Departmental activities started with the pioneering leadership of Prof. K. V. Varghese, deputed from St. Thomas College Pala. Sr. Annie Teresa, Smt. Thresiamma Cherian and Sr. Lillyamma Mathew were the pioneering faculties of the department.
The department aims to molding and transforming young graduate students for value driven, competent and committed women. In this fast changing situation we are trying to equip our students with various skills needed for their excellence, they are given practical knowledge in different walks of life.
