Department Profile
The Department of History, established in 1981, has been at the forefront of promoting critical inquiry, historical research, and a comprehensive understanding of the past. The department offers an undergraduate program in History, with fifty sanctioned seats. In addition to teaching, the department organises class-wise seminars and debates, and prepares students for quiz competitions and group discussions, helping them stay up to date with contemporary trends. The faculty is always available to provide guidance and support to students, both on and off campus, whenever needed. As a result, students consistently perform well in their final examinations and pursue higher studies. The department facilitates the holistic development of students, focusing on emotional, academic, social, professional, and global competencies. With the introduction of the four-year undergraduate program in 2024, the department now offers BA (Honours) in History.
