Alphonsa College, established in 1964 and managed by the Catholic Diocese of Pala, is a premier institution for women’s higher education affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. Guided by the motto “Lighted for Life,” the college is dedicated to the holistic empowerment of women through quality education that fosters intellectual growth, moral integrity and social responsibility. The college offers various Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Research programmes in Arts, Science and Commerce by integrating the contemporary educational trends while ensuring a strong foundation in the core principles. In line with its vision—“The perfect woman nobly planned”—the institution strives to create self-reliant and liberated young women, rooted in cultural values and equipped to be agents of social transformation in their families and society. The college’s excellence extends beyond academics into the field of sports and has earned numerous national and international accolades.
Situated on the banks of the Meenachil river, Alphonsa College, Pala, stands at the heart of one of Kerala’s most vibrant educational hubs, Pala. DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS
The Department of Physics was established in 1964 to impart higher education to young women of the region. The department started B.Sc Degree Programme in Physics in 1967. In 2000, the department introduced a Vocational B.Sc Physics Programme with Computer Applications as the vocational subject, marking a step towards interdisciplinary learning. With the implementation of Four Year Undergraduate Programme in 2024, the department now offers B. Sc Physics (Honours) with specializations in Material Science, Space Physics and Computational Physics.

CALL FOR PAPERS
The International Conference on Advanced Materials for Future (ICAMF 2025) invites submission of high-quality research papers presenting recent advancements, innovative findings and emerging applications of advanced materials in Science, Engineering and related fields. Abstract Book will be released during the Conference. Selected papers will be published as book chapters with ISBN. Awards for best oral/ poster presentations will be given during the conference based on scientific significance, originality and technical quality.
Posters printed on cloth/paper canvas should be in the portrait format of dimensions 3 feet wide and 4 feet in height.
