The PG Department of Zoology was upgraded as Research Department in 2021 with the
mission to promote excellence in research, innovation and knowledge creation. The Research
centre was formally inaugurated by Dr. Sabu Thomas, Honorable Vice Chancellor of
Mahatma Gandhi University on 27 th December 2021. College Manager Mar Jacob Muricken
presided over the function. The centre serves as a hub for faculty, research scholars and
students to conduct impactful research that addresses academic and societal needs. At present
nine scholars are pursuing research leading to Ph. D under the guidance of four research
guides. Thrust areas of research are Environmental Science, Molecular Taxonomy,
Microbiology, Fisheries, Bioinformatics and Toxicology.
